Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering cabinets internationally is a big decision. At Glenn Furniture, we want you to feel confident every step of the way. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions from our clients, plus insights from 20+ years of export experience.

Do you build only in mahogany?

Mahogany is our flagship material. We use it because it balances beauty, stability, and cost for export buyers.

We also build in teak (about double the price of mahogany) and, when appropriate, mixed-material construction—such as hardwood fronts with plywood carcasses. We’ll advise on the best approach depending on your project.

Can you color-match my sample?

Yes. Send us a paint chip, stain swatch, or even a photo, and we’ll prepare a match on mahogany for your approval.

Special Note: Mahogany naturally carries a warm, reddish undertone. This tone often enhances finishes, but it may subtly influence stain results. For darker or cooler tones, we can apply treatments to minimize the red.

Do you support U.S. and European standards?

Absolutely. We regularly produce cabinets for export to the USA, Europe, and Australia.

  • Measurements in inches or millimeters
  • Openings sized for U.S. appliances
  • ADA-compliant heights when required
  • CAD and 3D drawings provided for review before production

Who handles installation?

Your local contractor or installer will complete the installation. We make their job easier by:

  • Clearly labeling all parts
  • Supplying detailed drawings and install notes
  • Using export-quality joinery designed for reassembly

What about humidity and wood movement?

Wood is a living material, and we prepare it to last in any climate:

  • Kiln-dried to below 12% moisture content before use
  • All surfaces sealed (inside and out) to protect against moisture absorption
  • Floating panels and expansion joinery allow natural movement without warping

How long does production and shipping take?

Typical timelines:

  • Production: 8–12 weeks depending on order size and complexity
  • Ocean freight: 4–6 weeks depending on destination port
  • Customs clearance & delivery: Usually 1–2 weeks

We’ll provide a realistic schedule before production begins and update you throughout the process.

What’s included in a quote?

Your quote covers:

  • Cost of production (materials, labor, overhead)
  • Export prep (packaging, crating, documentation)
  • Profit margin (10% expertise + 5% buffer)

Not included: Ocean freight, insurance, and final inland delivery, which are billed at actual cost at the time of shipment.

How are cabinets packed for export?

All cabinets are prepared for long sea voyages:

  • Private Container bubble wrap and carton
  • LCL Custom crating with reinforced wood frames
  • Moisture barriers and wrap around each cabinet
  • Shock protection to withstand loading/unloading
  • Container loading supervision to ensure safe stowage

We ship hundreds of cubic meters each year without damage thanks to these precautions.

What is the warranty or guarantee?

We guarantee that your cabinets will arrive:

  • Built to your approved drawings
  • Finished to your approved sample
  • Packed securely for transport

Because installation and use vary, our guarantee covers materials and workmanship at the point of export. After delivery, your installer is responsible for correct setup.
